Ecologically rich Islands
Balearic is an archipelago of Islands, in the western Mediterranean sea. The music video showcases the protected dunes of E’Spalmador. Perry can be seen to be enjoying her time on the island of Ibiza and Formentera. The dunes are the best protected in the Balearic region and carry immense ecological value
The environment department will be looking into any damages. A thorough investigation will be conducted into the damages caused to the prohibited area which has been marked by rope. According to their statement filming is not a” crime against the environment” and as photographic evidence “can be authorized” upon request.
Collaboration with Dr.Luke
Katy Perry fans are criticizing the singer for collabing with singer songwriter Dr Luke. Perry’s songs such as “Woman’s World” and “Lifetimes” are marketed as feminist. The singer’s association with Dr. Luke is not helping her. He has been accused for sexual assault by none other than Kesha. Dr. Luke has denied all claims, yet he has been accused for sex-based crimes and is reported to have been a misogynist.
One comment on Perry’s Instagram account reads, “ A song about female empowerment produced by an abuser of women”. Others include, “ Oh Katy how the mighty have fallen. It’s not only the Dr. Luke thing, but the fact that the whole song is a sexualised version of what white men impose onto women. It’s a complete objectification of women. How can you stand for it?”
Katy Perry is yet to release any statement regarding the incident.
