Vladimir Putin welcomes Indian Naval Ship on Russia’s Navy Day

On 30th July 2024, Russia celebrated its Navy Day. On this day the sailors of the Russian Navy are honoured. Indian Naval Ship (INS) has also become a part of this celebration. Vladimir Putin, who is the president of Russia, was seen greeting INS.

TASS, a Russian news agency company has reported that Vladimir Putin congratulated FSS sailors of the Russian Navy at the start of the event. He was also seen reviewing the Main Naval Parade in St Petersburg’s Neva River.

Russian’s Main Naval Parade

According to a TASS report, in 2024, 20 surface ships and gunboats, along with four sailing vessels and, last but not least, a submarine, were involved in Russia’s Main Naval Parade, which took place on the Neva River of St Petersburg, a Russian country.

It has been a tradition to hold the Main Naval Parade in St Petersburg since 2017, and the reason behind this is to honour the glorious victories of the Navy that made a substantial contribution to defending the Fatherland.

Along with the Indian Naval Ship, the Algerian Navy training ship Soummam and last but not least, the Chinese guided-missile destroyer Jiaozuo was also part of Russia’s Main Naval Parade.

The Russian Main Naval Parade concluded in Senate Square of St Petersburg, in which approximately 2500 troops marched in foot columns.

Indian Navy spokesperson on his X account has stated that INSTabar arrived at St Petersburg, Russia to a warm welcome ceremony by the RuFN. He continued by stating that the ship’s visit to Russia incl participation in the 328th Russian Navy Day celebration and there were a professional interactions & conduct of Passex between both the navies.

Ministry of defence in the press conference has d stated that INS Tabar is equipped with a versatile range of weapons along with sensors and is among the earliest stealth frigates of the Indian Navy. It is also a part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet.
