Johnny Weir backs in Olympics

Ex-Olympian Johnny Weir is back for the Paris Olympics 2024. He was the first skater to win the US Nationals consecutively three times. In 2021 he was awarded the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame. Johnny has competed in various singles and pair skating championships. In 1999, his career started growing, and in 2013, he retired as a professional figure ice skater. 

After his retirement, Johnny Weir joined NBC as one of the figure skating analysts at the time of the Sochi Olympics. In 2023, on June 25, he retired as an analyst too and is currently a television commentator. Johnny Weir hails from Pennsylvania.

John Garvin Weir was born in 1984 on the second of July in Coatesville and was raised in Quarryville. It is a borough in Lancaster. He started skating at the age of 12 and later his family shifted to Newark, Delaware so that Johnny could focus more on his skating techniques. At that place the training rink and coach was near which paved the way of success for the skater.

Weir will be seen as one of the commentators who will cover the fourth closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Along with him, Terry Gannon, the winner of the gold medal in the Nagano Olympics, Tara Lipinski, two times figure skating Olympics winner, Mike Tirico, NBC’s host, and last but not least Emmy award-winning host, Jimmy Fallon will also cover the closing ceremony of Paris Olympics which will take place on 11th August 2024 in Stade de France. 

Jimmy Fallon will be making his debut as the commentator for the Olympics. Molly Solomon, who is the president of NBC Olympics, has said that they are excited for Jimmy to make his official Olympic debut in an iconic setting at the biggest party in the world with Mike Tirico.She has also said that Johnny, Tara, and Terry will also return to provide a fashionably fun take on the pageantry and parade of athletes who competed in Paris.
